Get In and Out of Your Window Wells With Ease…
All new homes require emergency exits from the basement, and for good reason. This construction implementation keeps you and your family safe in case of an emergency such as a fire, carbon monoxide leak, or even electrical malfunctions.
Window wells are part of this exit strategy. These safety measures are designed so that a firefighter in full gear can easily access the basement parts of your home. While you probably won’t be in full gear when entering and exiting your window well, you also don’t want to struggle to get in and out.
Window well ladders are the answer for what is known as egress windows. Egress windows allow anyone inside the home to enter through the basement during an emergency but are easier to use with a window well ladder.
Some window wells are too deep and aren’t accessible without a window well ladder. Imagine it’s late at night. You wake up to a fire that’s making it difficult to take the stairs. Exiting through the window well and using a ladder is going to be easier than trying to heave yourself up while helping your family through.
What To Look For In A Window Well Ladder
The standard dimensions of an egress (window well) are at least 24 inches high, 20 inches wide, and can’t be more than 44 inches above the floor. But technically, your window well can be deeper than 44 inches and if so, is required to have an escape ladder.
It’s not just important to have one. You want to make sure it’s permanently attached so you don’t risk the ladder falling back into your window, breaking it, or allowing for a shift while using it thus becoming even more dangerous.
Window Well Ladder Requirements
There are also a few other requirements a window well ladder must meet:
-
- A ladder can encroach into the well up to 6 inches, but no more.
- Look for rungs that are close together — fewer than 18 inches apart. This allows for easy climbing.
- The rungs must be at least 12 inches wide while the ladder projects 3 inches away from the well in order to be compliant with current building codes.
Meeting the requirements is the most effective way to ensure easy accessibility and correct safety measures for your home. Mountainland Window Well Ladders meet all these requirements and are designed to last. Our window well ladders come in 3, 4, or 5 steps and are custom-built to match the wells. They aren’t ugly and won’t decrease the value of your home.

We're proud to be the most efficient company in because we have perfected our process to have your covers installed within 2-3 weeks. Don't be fooled by companies who claim to be quicker. Chances are that you'll get an inferior product or will end up waiting longer than expected. Check online reviews, do a little research and you'll see that Mountainland Window Well Covers is the best.

Best Processes
15 years can teach you a lot of things. We've had plenty of time to perfect our manufacturing and installation processes. We stand behind our window well covers as the only company to offer a lifetime structural guarantee on both our steel window well covers and our polycarbonate window well covers. That's how you know you're getting quality basement window well covers from us. Sure, we've tried lots of different methods of coatings, welding, dipping, cutting, but we weren't satisfied until we figured out what truly held up in real life tests. We've learned more about structural rigidity than we need to know, but we're confident in our processes. No other company builds covers the way we do or uses our two-stage dipping process. We can ensure consistent repeatable results.

Best Value
You can find covers that cost less and covers that cost more, however you simply will not find covers that are a better overall value than Mountainland Window Well Covers . We have to take into consideration weight versus strength, ease of manufacturing versus aesthetics, and overall durability versus egress functionality. These are difficult trade-offs to analyze. We remove heavy, ugly, non-functional and compromised covers from homes on a daily basis. We laugh with customers as they tell us in exasperation, “What was I thinking when I got these!” In fact, it is a sad but true fact that our happiest customers are the customers who have tried something else first. The difference between our custom cover and anything else is that noticeable. Do yourself a favor and make the smart choice the first time around.

I had 3 steel grates with the toppers installed, and they look great! I’m so pleased with how they look, and it is such an improvement from the originals which were rusting, and allowing so much debris to get in. Good customer service and help too. I highly recommend this company.
We are incredibly pleased with our new window well covers and liners!
The team was prompt with coming out to measure and they were installed with a few weeks. The installation team went above and beyond by cleaning out a bit of trash/leaves that had collected over the years. We would highly recommend using Mountainland Covers.
Great product, amazing service and the BEST PRICE I could find on the internet! Would highly recommend! I needed something simple to cover my 3 window wells and found a standard size of the steel mesh model that was perfect for 2 of them. The other one didn’t quite fit because the shape was different. I was bummed because the price was so good and the quality clearly so great! But I called and for $100 they came to take measurements for a custom cover, they took away the one that didn’t fit and came back and installed the new one. Chef’s kiss! Such great quality and I didn’t have to drive to Denver again (no shipping cost was a huge help!). The customer service was top notch. Someone always answered the phone and was courteous, professional and TOTALLY on top of everything.
